11-13-23   THOUGHTS

The words of the psalm below were written by a “man after God’s own heart”!  We have sort of set bookends on these 10 verses.  The “NEW SONG” idea is one, and “I HAVE NOT HIDDEN”  is the other.  The remaining words support.  Paul said in Acts 20:20-21   “how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly and from house to house,  21  solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.”  As we “wait patiently for the Lord”...   may we sing the new song that is in our hearts, the SONG OF JESUS!

Ps 40:1-10   I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me and heard my cry.  2  He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. 3
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the LORD.  4  How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood. 5  Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too numerous to count.  6  Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; My ears You have opened; Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required.  7  Then I said, "Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me.  8  I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart." 9  I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great congregation; Behold, I will not restrain my lips, O LORD, You know. 10  I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation.
Acts 20:26-27   "Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men.  27  For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.”
2Cor 4:13   But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I BELIEVED, THEREFORE I SPOKE," we also believe, therefore we also speak,      [see Ps 116:10]

My Prayer:
Lord, open our hearts and embolden our lips.  May a powerful joy overcome a timid spirit.  May the “joy of Your salvation”,  give power to Your children.    You have given so freely. Lord, may we be generous with our all,  as we study our place beneath the shadow of the cross.   Help us to truly see, O God.   In the name of the One who saves us,       Amen.
